Edo State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers and armed robbers and recovered a stolen luxury vehicle, a firearm, ammunition, and other exhibits.
According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Joel Yamu, the suspects, identified as Maxwell Mathew and Samuel Mathew, both from Abraka in Delta State, were apprehended on May 2, 2025, at about 5:30 p.m., following an intelligence report received by operatives of the Oba Market Division.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, officers raided a hotel within the division’s jurisdiction where the suspects were hiding. During the operation, police recovered a Mercedes Benz GLC 300 with Delta State registration number ASB 884 AS, two face masks, a locally made shotgun, and two live cartridges.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to robbing one Patrick Omoregie of the recovered vehicle, an iPhone 16 Plus, cryptocurrency of yet-to-be-determined value, and the sum of N150,000.
CSP Yamu further stated that the suspects will be transferred to the Delta State Police Command, reinforcing the collaboration between neighboring commands in the ongoing war against crime.
The Edo State Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
