Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission, has charged Edo Queens Football Club to go all out and deliver a convincing victory against Confluence Queens FC in their final game of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership regular season.
In a statement issued by his Media Officer, Edoko Wilson Edoko, the Chairman commended the team for their exceptional performance throughout the season and urged them not to relent in their final group match.
“Edo Queens have made us proud this season. We want them to finish strong, and I encourage them to give their best and dominate Confluence Queens in today’s fixture,” he said.
The match, scheduled for Wednesday, April 30, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, promises to be a thrilling encounter as the defending champions aim to wrap up their campaign in style.
With a spot in the NWFL Super Six playoffs already secured, the Queens are looking to bounce back from their narrow 0-1 defeat to Nasarawa Amazons last week.
Appreciating Governor Monday Okpebholo for his immense support, Enabulele expressed confidence that Edo Queens will reaffirm their dominance in Group A and restore confidence among their supporters by securing a comprehensive win over the relegation-threatened Confluence Queens of Lokoja, who sit at the bottom of the table with just 7 points from 13 games.
Despite featuring in the Super Six two seasons ago, the visitors have had a dismal run this term and are likely to be relegated following what is expected to be another tough outing against the high-flying Benin side.
He emphasized that the clash is not just about the points, but also about maintaining momentum as Edo Queens prepare for the Super Six playoffs in Ikenne, Ogun State scheduled for May 8 to 17 2025, and the 2025 President Federation Cup Round of 16 fixture against Osun Babes FC in Lagos this weekend.
A win on Wednesday will cap a remarkable season for Edo Queens and send a strong message that they remain serious contenders for a back-to-back league title and conquer Africa.
