…Welcomes Governor Oborevwori, Others
Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has welcomed the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and key leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC ranks in the state.
Omo-Agege described the move as historic and one that signals a major shift in the state’s political landscape and underscores the growing influence of President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
In a statement issued on Sunday, Omo-Agege, said the leadership of APC in Delta State, extended a warm welcome to the governor and his supporters, emphasising that their entry into the APC reaffirmed the ruling party’s commitment to fostering unity and development across Nigeria.
The defection of Governor Oborevwori, alongside a contingent of PDP stalwarts, marks a pivotal moment for the APC in Delta State. Omo-Agege attributed the development to the transformative policies of the Tinubu administration, which he said had resonated with leaders across party lines.
“This historic move underscores the success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in driving growth and development in our country,” Omo-Agege stated.
He further assured stakeholders that all implications of the defection were being meticulously managed in consultation with the APC’s national leadership, the Progressive Governors’ Forum, and Delta State party officials.
Urging party faithful to embrace the new entrants, Omo-Agege stressed the importance of cohesion and collective purpose. “Let us embrace this development with unity, understanding, and a shared commitment to the progress of Delta State and Nigeria,” he said.
To formalise the integration of the defectors, Omo-Agege announced a grand reception scheduled for Monday, April 28, 2025, in Asaba. He called on local government and ward chairmen, executives, and supporters to mobilise en masse for the event, which is expected to draw high-profile attendees from across the country.
Omo-Agege also expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu, whom he credited for providing visionary leadership and fostering an inclusive political environment. He equally lauded the APC National Chairman and the National Working Committee (NWC) for their steadfast support in strengthening the party’s foothold in Delta State.
“This development reaffirms our commitment to progressive governance, promising a brighter future for our people and a more prosperous, secure, and united Nigeria,” he declared.
