Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, may soon be reinstated following ongoing talks between him and President Bola Tinubu advance, reports have said.
The breakthrough followed a closed-door meeting allegedly between the two leaders in London last week, shortly after Tinubu’s departure from Paris, according to The Africa Report.
Sources revealed that the meeting was initiated by Fubara, who has been seeking a swift resolution to the political impasse in Rivers State since his suspension and the declaration of a state of emergency in the oil-rich state.
The report said, during the discussions, Fubara reportedly agreed to make key concessions to facilitate his return to office.
Fubara who was suspended by President Tinubu on March 18 alongside his deputy, had vowed to use every democratic means to challenge his suspension.
However, he changed his position on his Easter Day message in which he called on his supporters and the people of Rivers State to embrace peace and support the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“I reiterate my unwavering commitment to delivering good governance to the resilient and dignified people of Rivers State.”
“Therefore, I call on the good people of Rivers State to continue to support and align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of our dear President, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while looking forward to a better tomorrow.
“Let us not lose sight of our collective strength. The transformation we all desire is achievable when we act together as one people under God, committed to peace, unity, and progress”, said Fubara.
The report is coming just days after his predecessor and Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, said the suspended Rivers State Governor was yet to apologize for his treachery.
