The Edo State Government has officially announced the reintroduction of the Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, to be held on the last Saturday of every month from 7:00 am to 10:00 am, beginning Saturday, April 26, 2025.
This directive was approved by the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as part of his administration’s renewed commitment to promote a cleaner and healthier environment across the state.
In a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the government emphasized that during the period of the exercise, all human and vehicular movements will be restricted. Only those on essential duties will be permitted to move around.
“The reintroduction of the exercise is premised on His Excellency’s commitment to ensure a healthier and cleaner environment for the good people of Edo State,” the announcement stated.
The government is urging all residents, local government authorities, market associations, and community leaders to fully participate in the exercise and take responsibility for cleaning their surroundings.
The return to a policy that was previously suspended, reflects the Okpebholo administration’s focus on environmental health and public sanitation.
