Former Kaduna Central senator and political commentator, Shehu Sani, has launched a scathing critique against what he describes as a hypocritical conspiracy by Northern politicians to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Shehu Sani made the assertion in a short statement he posted on his social media account, where drew a parallel between 2017 (just two years of Buhari’s first term in office) and 2025, and asked the North to contemplate how they would have perceived Southern politicians conspiring against the then president.
“Cast your mind back to 2017 (because 2017 is politically equivalent to 2025) and imagine some politicians from the South ‘ganging up’ against the then Presisaid, (Buhari who is from the North), there would have been an outrage”, Sani said.
He further remarked: “One thing I know is that if you dare say anything good about them, overzealous and fanatical supporters and thugs will come after you if you live in the Northern part of the Niger River.”
He went on to deliver a damning indictment of the political culture, stating: “We love to do to others what we can never tolerate.”
The statement comes amid reports of growing opposition to Tinubu’s administration from some Northern political figures.
