Senator Adams Oshiomhole has trained over 100 farmers in Edo North Senatorial District.
The farmers received high-yield seedlings, chemicals, and modern farming tools.
The programme is part of Oshiomhole’s 2024 constituency projects.
It was carried out by the Nigeria Oil Palm Research Institute (NIFOR) and Sam Sedi Nigeria Limited.
At the closing event, NIFOR’s Executive Director, Dr. Isona Gold, spoke on the impact.
Gold, represented by Dr. Esohe Ilori, said the farmers got quality inputs for production.
Ilori stressed NIFOR’s commitment to developing disease-resistant crops.
She highlighted oil palm, coconut, date palm, shea, and raphia palm as focus crops.
“Our role is to ensure these seedlings are of the highest quality,” she said.
Ilori added that empowering farmers boosts food security and jobs.
She promised continued support through research and technical guidance.
“Through initiatives like this, we are planting hope and prosperity,” she declared.
The project also features a sustainability model to secure long-term benefits.
