The chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, has distanced his outfit from the oil facility shut down by protesting Itsekiri youths.
In a statement by his media aide, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, Tompolo clarified that the Ogidigben oil field is under the watch of Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL). PINL is linked to the Olu of Itsekiri.
The facility, producing 28,000 barrels per day in Ugborodo, Warri South-West, Delta State, was shut down on Wednesday. Aggrieved Itsekiri youths led the protest, citing marginalisation in ward delineation by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Reacting swiftly, Tompolo made it clear that Tantita is not involved in the matter.
He stressed that the facility is outside Tantita’s security coverage.
“Nobody dares Tantita. This has nothing to do with Tantita or Tompolo. Security in that area is handled by the Olu of Itsekiri’s company, PINL,” Bebenimibo stated.
