The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has granted an automatic ticket to Governor Bassey Edet Otu and Deputy Governor Peter Agbe Odey for the 2027 election.
This decision was reached at the party’s State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held at the APC state secretariat. The meeting was chaired by the State Chairman, Alphonsus Ogar Eba.
The party, in a statement signed by Mr Achu Moses Ojang, Assistant Publicity Secretary of APC Cross River State, the party ruled out automatic tickets for other positions. It stated that aspirants from councillorship to the National Assembly must go through the nomination process.
The SEC also commended Governor Otu, Deputy Governor Odey, and National Assembly members for supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. The party described Tinubu’s action as “timely and constitutional,” helping to restore peace.
On party affairs, the APC acknowledged NORTHCO, an emerging support group, but directed that all party officials withdraw from its leadership to maintain neutrality. It urged the group to formalize its registration with the party.
Additionally, the party distanced itself from a petition submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Senator Agom Jarigbe Agom, clarifying that it did not originate from the APC.
The SEC warned members against using the party’s name in legal actions, stating that the so-called “Concerned APC Stakeholders of Cross River North” is not a recognized entity.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to winning National Assembly seats in Cross River North in 2027 and urged elected representatives and aspirants to engage with their constituents, emphasizing that no other automatic tickets will be granted.
