President Bola Ahmt Tinubu on Sunday, welcomed his first set of Eid-el-Fitr guests at the Presidential Banquet Hall in Aso Villa on Sunday, with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, leading the delegation.
The event is coming just days after unverified reports circulated online claiming Wike had slumped and had a partial stroke, a rumour seemingly dispelled by his public appearance.
The gathering, which began at 12:16 pm, included lawmakers representing the FCT, area council chairpersons, traditional rulers, and religious leaders from both Christian and Muslim communities. Also present were Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Information Minister Mohammed Idris.
The ceremony opened with prayers from the Chairman of the FCT Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr Timothy Amakon, and the Murshid of the National Mosque, Prof. SAS Galadanci. Wike, who appeared in good health, delivered the opening remarks before guests presented Eid greetings to the president.
The minister’s presence at the event effectively ends recent speculation about his wellbeing, which had sparked concerns among political observers. The occasion marks Tinubu’s first Eid-el-Fitr homage since assuming office, reinforcing traditions of unity and interfaith dialogue.
