Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Samson Osagie, has condemned the extra-judicial killings by residents of a community in Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area of the state.
The Attorney General, who described the act as unacceptable and contrary to the constitution and extant criminal legislation, said the State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is committed to the rule of law that guarantees the protection of lives and property
Dr Osagie commended the Governor of Edo State Sen Monday Okpebholo for his prompt visit to the locus inquo and his directive to security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
While condemning the act in strong terms, Dr. Osagie noted that no one is permitted to take the laws into their own hands or take another person’s life. “Under our laws, no one is permitted to take the laws into their own hands under any circumstances, and anyone who does this under any guise must be made to face the laws,” he stated.
The Attorney General commiserated with the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate incident and assured that under His Excellency, Sen Monday Okpebholo’s watch, the Security of lives and properties is of utmost priority and those involved in this incident will be diligently prosecuted.
