The Lift Above Poverty Organization (LAPO) is seeking collaboration with the Edo State government to enhance legal and social protection for women.
LAPO’s Executive Vice President, Social and Health Development, Mr. Honestus Ayobami, stated this during a visit to the State Ministry of Women Affairs over the weekend.
“LAPO seeks to collaborate with the Ministry in ensuring legal and social protection for women, strengthening enforcement of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law, and advocating for free and affordable healthcare services,” Ayobami said.
He added that working with the Ministry would enable LAPO to make a meaningful impact on women and vulnerable groups in Edo State.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief Bisi Idaomi, described the partnership as crucial to empowering women and strengthening their economic capacity.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Joy Ihensenkhien, Chief Idaomi affirmed the Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with LAPO to achieve these objectives.
Ayobami also commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his achievements within his first 100 days in office.
He reiterated LAPO’s commitment to empowering low-income individuals, especially women, through innovative health, social, and economic empowerment programs.
He further emphasized LAPO’s dedication to advancing financial inclusion for women, promoting their economic rights, and securing their inheritance rights, property ownership, and access to credit.
