The wife of Mr. Destiny Yinusa Inegbedion has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) over his disappearance.
Inegbedion, an offshore cook, went missing on August 6, 2024, while working on an oil platform operated by Sigmund Oil Field Limited.
His wife, Mrs. Senorita Otasowie Inegbedion, initially raised concerns after losing contact with him. She said they last spoke on August 5, when he complained about work-related issues.
Attempts to reach him afterward failed with her messages via the WhatsApp app we’re not delivered.
According to the petition, Mr. Inegbedion, employed under Prestige Hotel Limited, had returned to work on July 28 after a scheduled break. His last known location was the offshore facility in Rivers State.
On August 6, his colleagues noticed he was missing. His phone and wallet were found in his room, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Security cameras at the facility were reportedly not working, and the company’s security boat was also out of service.

Mrs. Inegbedion reported the case to the police in Benin City, but they directed her to authorities in Port Harcourt. The matter was later reported to a police station near the Port Harcourt airport.
A co-worker, Mr. Lekie Dornubari, later contacted Mrs. Inegbedion, asking for her husband’s phone password. During a virtual meeting with the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NURC), he claimed he wanted to check for clues about Inegbedion’s whereabouts.
The petition accuses several individuals, including Mr. Chris Uba, owner of Sigmund Oil Field, and Mr. Felix Edosowan, CEO of Prestige Hotel Limited, of possible involvement. Others named include Mr. Ikhine (also called “Camp Boss”) and Mr. Dornubari.
Mrs Inegbedion is demanding a full police investigation to uncover what happened to her husband. She seeks justice and answers regarding his mysterious disappearance.
