Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has endorsed calls for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to adopt a sole candidate for the 2027 elections.
His stance follows a similar call by Rt. Hon. Ejiroghene Waive, who represents Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Waive called on his party the APC to give Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who is a PDP member the automatic ticket to run for a second term as Governor in 2027.
“I commend my colleague, Rt. Hon. Ejiroghene Waive, for his bold and pragmatic stance,” Guwor said in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke.
The Speaker emphasized that adopting Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the APC’s sole candidate in 2027 would show a commitment to unity and the development of Delta State.
“It takes courage to put aside partisan interests and prioritize the people’s welfare,” he noted. “The governor has demonstrated strong leadership, and even the blind can feel the positive impact of his administration over the past year and ten months.”
Guwor praised Waive’s bravery in supporting the governor, describing it as a step toward sustaining Delta’s progress. He urged other well-meaning Deltans to rally behind Oborevwori for the state’s continued development.
Addressing opposition within the APC, the Speaker stressed the need for unity. “By adopting Governor Oborevwori as the sole candidate, the APC would be working for the common good of Delta State,” he reiterated.
Guwor concluded that another term for the governor would consolidate the achievements of the MORE agenda and bring greater prosperity to the state.
