In the wake of a tragic vehicle explosion on the Keffi-Kugbo road, the National Blood Service Agency (NBSA) has issued an urgent appeal for blood donations to assist victims of the devastating incident.
The explosion, which occurred yesterday, has left several casualties in critical condition, with hospitals and emergency responders scrambling to provide life-saving care.
The appeal was contained in a statement released Thursday morning. The NBSA called on Nigerians, particularly residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to step forward and donate blood to replenish dwindling supplies. The agency stressed that the need for blood is immediate, as many victims require urgent transfusions to survive.
“The devastating incident has resulted in multiple casualties, many of whom require immediate blood transfusions,” the statement read. “Hospitals and emergency response teams are working tirelessly to save lives, but an adequate blood supply is crucial to their efforts.”
The NBSA urged all eligible donors to visit designated blood donation centers and hospitals across the FCT to make voluntary contributions. The agency also provided contact information for those seeking further inquiries or directions to the nearest donation centers.
“Your generosity can make the difference between life and death for those in critical condition,” the statement added.
For more information or to locate the nearest donation center, the public is encouraged to contact the National Blood Service Agency at 39 Abidjan Street, Zone Wuse, or call 07088370905.
