The Member representing Abua/Odual and Ahoada East, Hon. Solomon Bob (PDP), has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of attempting to remove the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Martins Amarehulu, barely a month into his tenure.
Hon Bod made the allegation on Wednesday in an interview with Channels TV Politics Today show, monitored by Spear News
According to Bob, Governor Fubara’s early days in office were marked by what he described as “pretentious and imperial” behaviuor, with the governor allegedly trying to assert control over other elected officials.
The lawmaker claimed that Fubara’s first major move was an attempt to oust the Speaker of the State House of Assembly. When the lawmakers resisted, Bob alleged that the governor retaliated by withholding their salaries and later demolishing the House of Assembly complex.
“The truth is, a month into his term, he tried to remove the Speaker, and when they rebuffed him, he withheld their salaries and went ahead to demolish the House of Assembly,” Bob stated during the interview.
He further criticised the public narrative surrounding the political crisis in Rivers State, arguing that many are unfairly blaming former Governor Nyesom Wike instead of holding Governor Fubara accountable for his actions…”instead of seeing facts everyone is looking for a scapegoat and blaming Wike.”
