The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, has dismissed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s recent remarks on the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway project, describing them as uninformed.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had criticized the N15.6 trillion coastal highway project, labeling it as an extravagant and corruption-ridden endeavour.
Responding to Obasanjo’s comment on Thursday, Ajayi questioned Obasanjo’s credibility, stating, “Former President Obasanjo seems to see himself as the only Nigerian created by God who knows what is good for Nigeria at any given time. If, as President for eight years, he couldn’t fix the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the Lagos-Abeokuta road, we can’t take his latest view on the Lagos-Calabar highway as well-informed.”
The Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, a major infrastructure initiative by the current administration, aims to boost economic connectivity and development across the southern region of Nigeria.
