The House of Representatives Committee on Finance has recommended the exemption of military personnel from personal income tax in Nigeria.
Committee Chairman Abiodun Faleke announced the proposal on Thursday during a clause-by-clause review of four tax bills forwarded to the parliament by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024.
Addressing the session, Faleke stated, “Mr. Speaker, honourable colleagues, the committee has proposed that the personal income of military personnel should be exempted from tax. This is due to the critical nature of their duties.”
The proposal received unanimous approval from the lawmakers.
