Emmanuel Okoronkwo, an aide to Samuel Anyanwu, the ousted National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has taken control of the party’s national secretariat, Wadata Plaza, in Abuja.
This action has disrupted a planned meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC). In a video that has gone viral, Okoronkwo warned of violent consequences for anyone he considers “unauthorised” trying to enter the party’s headquarters.
Witnesses have stated that journalists and other visitors were refused access to the secretariat as tensions rose.
The NWC had intended to hold a meeting today in preparation for the inauguration of the newly established South-South Zonal Caretaker Committee, scheduled for Thursday.
Additionally, Okoronkwo has been accused of physically attacking Sunday Udeh, the court-recognised PDP National Secretary, during a recent Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting at the party’s headquarters.
