The invitation extended to pro Wike lawmakers by Governor Siminalayi might have hit the rock as a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Isaiah Opuende, wo is also a pro Wike lawmaker criticised Governor Fubara for inviting lawmakers to peace talks via social media.
Opuende, a staunch supporter of former Governor Nyesom Wike, was seen in s short video that has so far gone viral on social media, expressing his displeasure and making caricature out the invitation.
He referenced a popular phrase often used by Wike, saying, “Our leader (Wike) once said a time like this will come when everyone will ‘dey their dey’ (meaning everyone will be on their own). How can the governor write a letter of invitation and drop it on social media, then expect us to honour it?”
This latest drama stems from Governor Fubara office dated March 7, 2025 inviting members of the State Assembly to a peace meeting aimed at resolving the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Opuende argued that such an important invitation should have been delivered through official channels rather than being made public on social media. He accused the governor of attempting to undermine the lawmakers and create a false narrative of cooperation.
