Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has extended an olive branch to allies of former Governor Nyesom Wike, inviting the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, and other assembly members to a crucial meeting at the Government House.
In a letter dated March 7, 2025 sighted by Spear News, Governor Fubara highlited the agenda for the meeting. This move is seen as a significant step towards resolving ongoing political tensions and fostering reconciliation between the current administration and supporters of the former governor.
The meeting, which is expected to hold on Monday 10 March, 2025 is to address key issues affecting the state, comes amid a period of political friction.
The Governor’s invitation signals a willingness to engage in dialogue and chart a path forward for the state’s development.
According to the document, the agenda for the meeting includes the provision of a befitting space for the assembly’s sittings, ensuring that the legislative arm has a suitable and functional venue to conduct its activities effectively.

Additionally, the governor is expected to discuss the payment of all outstanding remuneration and allowances owed to the honourable members and addressing any grievances related to unpaid entitlements.
Key financial and administrative issues, including the presentation of the state’s budget and other sundry matters, will also be tabled for discussion to ensure smooth governance and development.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity to address any other pressing issues that may arise, with the governor emphasising the need for collaboration in the best interest of the state.
