…..Slams Nigerians spending millions to relocate abroad
Renowned Nigerian journalist and publisher Dele Momodu has sparked a heated debate after declaring that Nigerians who consider themselves poor with N30–40m in their accounts are “mád.”
The outspoken media personality made the remarks during a recent interview on Teju ‘Babyface’ Oyelakin’s popular podcast show.
Momodu, known for his candid opinions, criticised the growing trend of Nigerians spending millions to relocate abroad with their families, often in pursuit of what they perceive as a better life. He argued that such individuals fail to recognise the value of their wealth in a country like Nigeria, where N30–40 million can provide a comfortable lifestyle if managed wisely or invest in business.
“If you have N30–40 million in Nigeria and think you are poor, you are a mád man,” Momodu stated emphatically. “People are spending millions to relocate abroad, but they don’t realise that with that kind of money, they can build a solid life here. Instead of running away, they should invest in Nigeria and contribute to its growth.”
He said people leaving the country with the excuse of insecurity have no idea that nowhere in the world 100% secured.
