Academic takeoff set for 2025
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has officially presented a Certificate of Occupancy for approximately 170 hectares of land to the Federal Government for the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia.
The handover ceremony, held on Friday, was attended by the Honorable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, and the Honorable Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad.
Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the smooth takeoff of the institution, which is set to commence full academic activities in September 2025.
The university is expected to become a hub for applied sciences, addressing critical skill gaps and driving innovation in Nigeria.
In his remarks, Dr. Alausa expressed gratitude for the swift approval and certification of the land, praising the Kaduna State Government for its inclusive and people-centred approach to governance. He also pledged to secure TETFUND interventions to support the new university, as well as additional funding for Kaduna State University and the Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya.
Governor Sani highlighted his administration’s achievements in the education sector, including significant reductions in the number of out-of-school children and increased school enrollment rates. He reiterated Kaduna State’s commitment to partnering with the Federal Ministry of Education to further enhance the quality of education across the state.
The Governor also extended his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima for their unwavering support in realising the project. The establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s quest for educational advancement and technological development.
