The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that elections for the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) will hold on Saturday, February 21, 2026. The announcement was made in a statement released by the Commission in Abuja.
According to the statement, voting will commence at 8:30 a.m. across all polling units in the FCT. INEC also emphasized key guidelines for the election:
- Only registered voters with valid Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will be allowed to vote.
- Voting will take place at the polling units where voters are registered.
- The Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) will be used for voter verification.
- No PVC, no voting.
The Commission urged eligible voters to ensure they are properly registered and possess their PVCs to participate in the election. Further details regarding the election process are expected to be released in the coming months.
